Remembering Fred Koch

Fred Koch, Civil Engineering Research Associate in the area of pollution control and waste management, passed away on September 15th, 2015. Fred was a very important member of UBC Civil Engineering, and was highly regarded and well-liked by faculty, staff, and students. Over the almost forty years that Fred was in the Department, he had a great impact on the lives of many people, including many graduate students who benefitted from working closely with him. He also leaves behind a legacy of important research contributions, including his work on struvite recovery, which led to the establishment of Ostara Nutrient Recovery Technologies Inc. Fred was also a musician and was co-founder and president of Bullfrog Studios in Vancouver.
