Four students from the UNBC/UBC environmental engineering program and one student from CHBE made up the team that travelled to New Orleans for the 2014 Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC), September 27 – October 1. The team placed first in the Environmental Division of the WEFTEC Student Design Competition.

The project was a comparison of the cost and feasibility of three different stormwater management plans to protect the salmon bearing stream of Star Creek, in aid of the City of Coquitlam’s determining how to proceed with a proposed development.

From the UBC “FloBeau” Team:

“As a team, we have a passion for design challenges and are eager to apply knowledge learned from classes and personal experience to practical design problems. We feel that this experience is valuable and that the skills learned over the course of these projects will translate well into a professional working environment.”
