The Department of Civil Engineering has two purpose built laboratories for experimental work in hydrotechnical engineering. The larger of the two labs is a 900 m2 modern hydraulics laboratory with a circulating capacity of 0.3 m3/s. The lab houses eight pieces of apparatus used for the teaching labs in our undergraduate courses. The laboratory is also equipped with a 25 m flume and a recirculating sediment flume.
The facilities are adaptable to a wide range of research activities and this Department has collaborated with other faculties to carry out cutting edge, world renowned experiments in this facility. The second lab is a graduate experimental space that houses two lasers and two other flumes.
