UBC Concrete Canoe Team places 4th at Regional Competition

UBC Concrete Canoe is proud to announce their success at the recent regional Concrete Canoe Competition at the ASCE Pacific Northwest Conference, held at Portland State University April 25 – 26. Out of thirteen competing teams, they finished in fourth place, trailing behind the second runner up by a mere six points. Many of the teams present had been competing for decades, so congratulations are in order for this fledgling team who competed this year for the first time ever.

The team received much praise from other teams participating, and were given honorable mention at the awards ceremony for an impressive first showing. The team reports that they have achieved their mission of creating a strong foundation for UBC Concrete Canoe for future team members to build on. They hope to make an even stronger showing next year, and with their newfound, hard-earned knowledge of the concrete canoe-building process, they are confident they will.

The UBC Concrete Canoe Team is very grateful to their sponsors for all the support they received this year. Please visit the UBC Concrete Canoe Facebook page for more photos and information about the team.
